Welcome to our celebration of
our annual Festival of Football held at Wilnecote Leisure
Centre.
Setting up began at 6am on both
days, with our set-up team erecting 4 huge gazebo's to act as
the registration area, sweet stall, referee's centre and St John
Ambulance. The main area was set in the centre of the 8 pitches
and also had our outside catering serving hot food
the summer serving of Ice cream
and our
professional photographer
allowing players to take home a live shot of them playing
football.
With Computerised results
service allowing on-site printing and a 2000watt P.A. system
allowing all 8 pitches to hear announcements of fixtures and
results, the event was a great success.
On Saturday morning the Under
8's involved 20 teams travelling from Central Birmingham,
Cannock, Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Walsall as well as teams
from Tamworth.
The players involved put on a
wonderful display of football played in the correct spirit and
supported by hundreds of supporters.
On the same morning the Under
12 Girls
played in a 9 team competition
where Dosthill came Runners- up.
On Saturday afternoon, it was
an all Under 10's competition where 20 boys teams and 10 girl's
teams
battled it out in the afternoon
sunshine,. Teams in this section travelled from Burton-on-Trent,
Bristol, Walsall & Willenhall, Birmingham, Nuneaton, Solihull,
Bromsgrove and some local Tamworth teams.
On Sunday the day once again
began in glorious sunshine with kick-off at 9.15am as the
previous day. The Under 9 Boys took over the morning with 30
teams enjoying a breathtaking session
which involved a Gold and
Silver Trophy. The teams were broken down into 6 groups with the
top 6 and the 2 best runners-up moving into a Gold trophy and
the 4 remaining runners-up being joined by the 4 best third
placed teams, all involved in a Silver Trophy.
The Sunday afternoon saw 22
Under 7's teams playing a spirited non-competitive event where
all players left with a medal. The young players treated the
supporters to a fantastic display of fun football and the smiles
achieved on the day were fantastic.
On the same billing the Under
14 Girls concluded the event where 11 teams battled out in a
brilliant event.
Our thanks on the day must go
